The Nervous System Heals In Safety

The nervous system heals in safety. Not through pressure, urgency, fixing, not through tricks and hacks and certainly not on a deadline...but in safety.⁣

We can't "argue" with our bodies feeling threatened or unsafe. Either the threat is present or remembered through a symptom or reaction in the body, a threat is present and the way to address this is by restoring safety. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

1. If the threat comes from dysregulation of the nervous system, safety comes from re-regulating the nervous system. Attuning to our nervous system and learning what supports regulation is key to feeling safe. ⁣

⁣⁣

2. Disconnection is at the core of the visceral fear we experience. Our natural state is one of embodied beings. If the threat comes from disconnection from our body, our needs, safety means more connection. Coming back to ourselves, our needs, our body, our voice, limits, truth and Nature.⁣

⁣⁣

3. If the threat comes from overload, overwhelm, pushing too hard or having too much on our plate beyond what our nervous system can regulate, safety comes from creating a bit more space, from letting go of what is no longer serving us, from slowing down. ⁣⁣

⁣⁣

4. If the threat comes from unresolved wounds and emotional dynamics, safety comes from resolving these wounds and trauma. What is unresolved will continue to be the source of unsafety on an implicit level, not rational. Everything that is yet to be resolved awaits to be met, welcomed, held, accepted, soothed... to be integrated. ⁣⁣

5. If the threat comes from living on autopilot, unconsciously repeating patterns that make us suffer then safety means allowing awareness to shed clarity in our life.⁣

Safety is the capacity to hold ourselves in the middle of the trigger, the discomfort or vulnerability.
